Is this worth Buying??

Hi I am going to look at a Scott Speedster 30 tomorrow. The guy wants £180 for it. He says it a 2018 model.

Aero double-butted 6061 aluminum frame ( Large 56cm )

Light Carbon fork.

Front derailleur Shimano Tiagra

Rear derailleur Shimano 105

2x9 speed


That’s all the information I have. Any advice would be appreciated.

Any signs of damage, especially to the carbon fork?

Does it do what you want/need?

You don't normally get much of a bike for £180 these days and that looks pretty decent.

I agree with @vickster though - the 2015 model was 10-speed Tiagra - LINK.

If the seller thinks it’s a 2018, he’s mistaken (or it’s stolen, ask him for a 2018 dated receipt ) If he bought it new that recently, he should be able to get the receipt from the retailer

Well spotted @newts - either it's the same seller who didn't actually sell the bike or it's dodgy.

They are good bikes and if it was a 2018 I'd say jump at it, but that paint styling and those wheels are more like the 2008 if that is a picture of the actual bike.
Still could be a good bike, but possibly at a bit less than £180.

That 2015 ad says that the bike then for sale is not the one in the image.

But @newts point shows that you are not looking at a recent image of the bike that is for sale now.

So I sent a screenshot to the guy and asked him about it. This is what he said

The picture I got it off google , I live in a flat and bike is locked in garage so was just quicker. It’s the same model , I can send you detailed pictures if you like in the morning?

I just asked him to verify the age of the Bike.
