Okay, time to end the speculation and suspense.
The vid shows this guy "freewheeling" which was a common theme for him.
I drove about 6 miles with this guy in (or near) my vision and I was seriously impressed
(bet you wished you owned up now
)
At one point, he was riding at 24 MPH going UP Tulse Hill (a long-ish, and steep-ish hill that I cannot ride quicker that about 11mph)
He did this without looking the slightest bit stressed, and then he started to freewheel along side me at that speed…GOING UP HILL!
This guy was struggling to stay *behind* the traffic and kept coasting up behind guys who were really standing on the pedals or had there heads down and were bobbing along trying to keep a pace.
Great rider, quick on the hills and the super quick (30mph +) on the flats. I've never "noticed" a bicycle travelling so quickly…maybe I just wasn't looking before I started to ride to work.
Apologies for the use of a blackberry whilst driving, but I have about 8 shots of "no" footage as I was not looking at him, just shooting blind. I filmed him so that I could look later to see if his bike was "assisted" as he seems to be going so fast with hardly any effort at all and i was too busy concentrating on the road to take a good look.
