Very shortly i will put on my diy clobber and begin the task of sorting out the shed garage green house.First task is to cut up my dad's painting ladders, they must be 60 years old at least.the last time i used them nearly three years ago they wobbled side to side as i climbed up to clean out the gutters,Well this time next week all should be tidy,i am now going to begin.I might be some time, another Meanwood man said that "I am just going outside and may be some time.

Well whilst pottering in the garden,i have been told the border is going to be narrower,so i now have to cut the side pieces of wood down by three inches, these are the pieces we had cut in the wood yard to get them square and the right length, why do i bother.

The Family Estate
  • Meanwoodside: The Oates family owned the sprawling Meanwoodside estate, which included large stretches of land in Meanwood.
  • Meanwood Park: Following the death of his younger brother, the family sold the estate to Leeds City Council in 1954. Today, the former family grounds serve as the expansive Meanwood Park.

Well a good day yesterday. The skip arrived mid afternoon, and both of us then got sorting out.i took on the shed, and i can say my taking down the shed was rather good,i did not break the two glass panes.Methodical i was.Window first, door, then the overlapping boards one at a time.Keeping the area around my feet tidy.So when all that was left was the skeleton frame i knocked out the back supports and it fell just slightly off centre, then i split the roof. All in the skip,no accidents no A & E visits.Everything we are keeping is now in the green house for a week till the shed comes. We could not put anything in the garage because the car has to be garaged everynight due to the insurance details,no leaving outside overnight when at home address.Rest day today lads meeting pie and a pint or two.

The trouble is, once you buy a tin of emulsion ( any paint for that matter) once you get home there is a compelling urge to start decorating. Well, for me that is. After being inspired from some programs we have watched on tv lately that spurred us on. Lounge started then. I do it in stages so that there is not too much disruption, it saves moving all the furniture out. Anyway, I prepped the floor, unscrewed the 13A wall socket and phone socket. Not long afterwards my wife says that her recliner chair was`nt working. I checked mine also, that was`nt either. Checked the RCD box, all good. The sockets elsewhere in the house were working. Well, ain`t` that strange ? Of course, it only happened when I loosened the 13A socket. As sure as eggs are eggs, the live wires in that socket were loose. They probably had worked loose in 22 years. It was a good job that I had discovered it as it it had happened randomly I would have been scratching my head ! More painting tomorrow.
