I know what you mean though. We have a Euro Millions syndicate at work, but we only do it when it exceeds a similar level. Me on the other hand......................

What would i spend it on ?
Had this asked years ago when i lived in a far less than perfect area..
they asked me 'would you buy your house' ?

Assuming I won hundreds of millions, after all the usual stuff of mortgages, reli's, a world tour and so on.
I'd like to buy up a few thousand acres and build a village, I'd be getting Prince Charles to recommend the Architects and planners, using Poundbury as a template.
I'd try to make it self contained and as self sustained as possible, so that people would tend to work locally, and it would supply it's own power, water, sewerage, crops and so forth
It would of course not have any cars.
I would also like to take a small slice of London, perhaps even one of the smaller Boroughs like the City, and do fund matching for it to be completely 'cyclified' and therefore act as an example of how it can be done for the rest to copy, where London goes the rest will follow.
I'd also do a lot to encourage Scouting, particularly encouraging Adult helpers and Leaders. Perhaps paying towards Uni education in exchange for Leaders.

Not Poundbury though... Brains... that's just imitation Home Counties twee... you need a proper masterplan to build a village from scratch with reed bed ponds and hydro-power and central heat and power plant ...+ a proper village centre... oooh, you could have fun with that.

It depends. I have been on (admittedly) smaller boats before and it was hard work, but it was also good fun and you certainly slept at night!
