I'm not materialistic at all, so I wouldn't like a 'thing' in the sense that other people are mentioning. I would commission Steve Reich (contemporary US composer and my fave composer too) to write me a piece of music, and Colin Carruthers (contemporary landscape artist) to paint me a pic of a section of the NW scottish coastline.

That would mean the world to me.

There are no 'material things' that I desire, affordable or not. I just get stuff as cost effectively as possible if I need it and I don't think about it if I don't need it.

Last Train to New York is a particular favourite of mine.

A new bike. But money is a bit tight at the mo.

£1200-£1400 price range would satisfy me.

Same here - nothing awesome either - just a good quality one

Porsche 997 Turbo.

Within reach, yes, but only if I blow my retirement fund on it. I'm probably too sensible for that...

48 is a difficult age.

A new car - Saab 9-3 top of the range. But this could be tricky if I wish to eat or keep warm for the next few years.

Failing that rent a cottage in the Scilly Isles for six months.
