A vote here for a Mazda CX 5, my wife had for about a year, great car and I was thinking of buying one for myself. AWD, automatic, plenty of room for a bike inside.

SWMBO is talking about replacing my faithful '11' plate (125,000 mile/remapped) Octavia 1.6Tdi
Whether she's implying buying outright, or leasing via her company, I have no idea?

Skoda Yeti or Octavia estate. 4WD versions available, either will take several bikes with ease

I see a lot of Scouts at work. & they're very well liked, with barely a bad word
Reliable, spacious, all-weather ability (& very good in the mud/sand/snow - far better than most people would need)
Fast enough (think most are the 2.0Tdi 150BHP)
They're run almost 24 hours, but well maintained, some covering 50,000+ miles a year
Looking at the following picture. you'll understand why
Is this visible to everyone

I am trying to lean her towards an Octavia 4x4 estate, not the Scout
Sadly, she wants a petrol/automatic this time (I'm still diesel/manual)

But......she's looking at the Kodiaq.....................

Daughter fancies a CitiGo, for when she passes

I would recommend a BMW or Audi as it means you can always park much closer to wherever you want to go.
And, have your own special lane.............

I've got a Skoda Superb SE Technology 1.6 diesel, manual. Greenline SCR, which the website suggests is around £25k BIK. I have to pay for private mileage, so the 1.6 diesel means 9p/mile.

Boot is massive, you can easily get a bike (laying down) in it.

I'm a petrol head but the thought of spending £25-30K on a car is insane, that's a year & a half's salary

Not for a lot of people. Luckily for me I can afford to splash out on a new car if I wanted too, but I only spend about £7,000 max on my 3 year old ex lease cars instead. I am very glad everybody else does not do the same.

Yes the PCP (is that the right acronym) the new way to personally lease/finance a new car is the new PPI

I think the OP is buying a company car?

I’d never lease a car. Bought mine for about £12k when it was just under a year old with 4000 miles on clock (was a Skoda group middle manager car I assume). Now it’s over 5 years old and creeping towards 20k miles!
I can’t imagine I’ll change it for at least another 5 years as it does everything I need from a car (probably more quickly than needed too)

I think if you want a new car every two or three years then leasing is the most economical option simply due to the depreciation on new vehicles.
I've never leased a car but I'm looking at leasing options at the moment.
