Maybe the voters in Cardiff wish they had Keith Vaz as their MP. He has banned the coke lorry from his constituency.

Bung his wife a few quid and he'll let it back in again.

Its a symbol of the glib commercialism

Completely agree. I see friends getting carried away on Faceache because a red and white lorry with fairy lights on is coming to a supermarket car park. Imagine if they were queuing to have their picture took with a Stobart lorry

Santa used to dress in green until Ramsay MacDonald radicalised him in the 1920s.

That's good because his suit would match the actual delivery trucks that go in and out of the factory in Wakefield, green artics with Eddie Stobart on the side, also that thing isn't the American truck on the ad, it's a Scania.
You've all been had.

Coke has long been promulgating the idea they invented or helped shape Santa to get their product inextricably linked with Christmas. They were quietly sending this to journos for a number of years, who lazily submitted it as researched copy and headed off to the office party.

I read the linked article and another one and I still don't understand what relation there is between a truck/lorry/semi/sem-eye/artic/hgv parked in an Asda car park, and traffic chaos. Even the posts here don't help much.

Yeah, I don't watch much tv, but still.

^^^ this. This is the missing bit. I don't understand who wants to look at a truck**.

I'm so outside the loop apparently that most people don't even know it's a question. Even someone explaining it skips the important bit, and the news articles assume I understand what this is.

**I'm australian, so I can say "truck" (but I've lived here a long time, so that's not my excuse)
