I try to merge switching on the Christmas lights with turning on the heating... Mrs Pete has other ideas... I always lose
Assert your authority, put your foot down!

And if that fails, have a "power failure" or heating that trips the switch.

My wife put ours on today...she's feeling a bit like she's got a cold developing and there are toddlers in the house later...but it soon went back off, I felt like I was in a furnace and the heating wasn't even up that high.
8pm and the windows are open...thats more like it :okay:

Underfloor on very low, the upstairs is not on. The upstairs even in the depths of winter is only ever on from 4.30am until 5.30 am.

Super-insulated house with triple glazing and a whole house ventilation system. Despite being incomplete, with a temporary front door and various elements of the outside missing, our heating won't come on before December unless there is some really freakish weather, and will go off again in March, costing us in the region of £70 per year heating bills, and all the while, day and night, it will be over 20 degrees inside. I'm just sorry that all houses aren't built this way (and this one is 300 years old).

In fairness to her its a 1930's solid brick house so it does get chilly.

Heating is on a little but tonight was the first time the wood burner had been on and it's roasting:heat:

Not yet but am getting complaints from my daughter! We did light the log burner tonight and the dog was very happy!

Visited a friend of mine in Stockholm, November before last, where it obviously gets pretty cold in the winter. The only form of heating they have is one small fan type heater which is heated by an air source heat pump situated by the front door which trickles warm air in to the house. The rest of the job is done by very efficient insulation.
