Me too. Been caught 3 Times today turning the dial down.
I am in a t shirt, the wife is in a hoodie.
"Adjust" the dial so the figures are in a different posistion.

Will not work with a digital one.

Not put the heating on at home yet, but put it on for a while in the hotel I was in last night.. My excuse was that I'd been outside exposed to the wind all day at Silverstone.

Our heating has been on for an hour early yesterday morning and early this morning, last night and tonight the main heating was off but the gas fire in the lounge has been on low, my Good lady has a minor cold, and some other health issues and I need to look after her.

I have my heating on at 30C in this place. I might as well as it's £4.80 a week no matter how high or low you have it.
Even though most people would happily pay double that to reduce the temperature to something more bearable! :okay:

Barnet,
In Chez P, the heating is on a timer, with the hot water. 6.30am in the morning until 10am and then 6 -10.30pm. The heating is controlled by a thermostat set for 19' so most days at the moment it doesn't actually come on for long. It is handy to drape the washing over the radiators to get them dry.

Apart from April/May its been a cold, wet and miserable year here in The Lakes - at least in the SE corner.

Probably had the heating on most days for varying amounts of time.

Open fire every night bar 4 so far as the weather has been so bad.

I'll take this opportunity to moan about the weather forecast for today too:

Last night: forecast said drizzle till 10am and then sunshine and 17C.

This morning: forecast said drizzle till noon and then sunshine and 16C

2 hours ago The Bay (crappy local radio station) breezily announced that "it's a lovely afternoon and really sunny out there". *

Reality: 13C and non-stop fine misty drizzle all day. Visibility from lounge <300m.

This is why we are sitting here with the heating on and the fire ablaze.

* The Bay has not covered itself in glory today M6 J36 southbound completely closed this morning due to accident: following pronouncement on the station that "all was clear and moving well" they started getting calls from motorists saying the thing was still jammed. They've not got much right today.

I'm sure someone on here can answer this question for me. It might sound a bit of a dumb question but i've always thought that if you don't ask you won't find out,no matter how obvious the answer is to others. If i have all my gas powered radiators on (as apposed to electric ones i had in that "fire hazard" place) does it cost more than having say 2 of the 4 radiators on? I'm thinking that the hot water is running through the pipes anyway,so wherever it goes it won't make a difference in how much it costs to warm that water. If it doesn't cost any more to have them all on i'll do so,but i've turned the radiator on top of the stairs off as it seems daft to warm up an area that i just walk through and not live in. Thanks for any sensible answers!:okay:

IMO the boiler has to heat enough water to fill the radiators and get then to a temperature you set centrally or to their own thermostatic valves.
If you close off a radiator then the boiler is having to heat less water for the system.
So to my mind it's cheaper.
After all boilers of different power are chosen depending on the number of radiators they support.
