ParcelForce are supposed to still be delivering here but it is 10:20 and my Express10 (by 10 am) parcel has not arrived. It is already 24 hours late, but I can't blame them for the weather today ...

It looks like the council gave up on today's refuse collection.

A mate is on holiday in Texas and the b*st*rd has been sending me regular reports of sunny days with temperatures in the shade of 31 degrees C so I just emailed him a photo of his street covered in slushy snow, at 3 degrees - he is coming home early next week - ha ha! :okay:

PS

ParcelForce man delivered 22 minutes late, which is not bad in the conditions. He thinks yesterday's delivery did not happen because of a broken-down trailer.

The waste collection has now taken place too, a couple of hours later than usual.

The temperatures outside have risen to over 5 degrees so pristine snow is now turning to mucky slush - lovely! Just as I am going to venture out to score some drugs ...

I'll rephrase that - just as I am about to venture out to pick up my first free prescription drugs! (I turned 60 a month ago so I don't have to pay prescription charges any more.)

You wont be going out today then?
Nah - gonna wrestle some raceblades on to 'er indoors bike instead.

Some of the weather presenters see a bit of snow and get all excited and go into hyperbole overdrive.

They're like 5 year olds who've existed entirely on a kilo of Haribo per day for the last month.

Don't they just.

It's incredible how unprepared some organisations are too.

Dropping someone at the airport at 3am this morning, Knowing the time of year, I checked and saw a potential for bad weather, so set off in good time.

Sadly, even though I managed it, despite all their gadgets the airport companies seem to have been caught by surprise. No wonder there's disruption.

The runway wasn't clear, the aeroplane wasn't de-iced, and when they started, they ran out of de-icer, and the cabin crew ran out of hours, so the once the plane gets into the air, it has to divert to collect new crew.

The potential was predictable enough, so contingencies should be built in to their systems.

Still, the passengers get a £6 voucher for a sandwich and God/nature gets the blame.

It's March in the north of England, it gets cold. :headshake:

I went to work about 11am. Half the shops were shut with "shut due to the bad weather" signs in their windows. Even the buses had stopped running. I've just phoned a local furniture charity to ask if they wanted a bureau that's too good to throw out. They told me they couldn't pick it up till the end of March due to a backlog because of "all the horrendous snow we've been having"! We've had about 4 hours of snow this winter!

Angry.

Just enough thick wet slushy snow in East Leeds for Knuts in Audis and taxis to get their juvenile kicks. I'm riding the nearside cleared tyre tracks. They're driving the accumulated snow between the tyre tracks. Oh what fun. High speed close passes, drenching me in dirty, gritty slush.
