Or not, as the case may be.

This morning is hardly cutting edge journalism is it, and they are only probably looking to do a piece on cyclists vs motorists due to all the silly little men in lycra with cameras and silly little men in big cars getting all shouty shouty with each other all the time and then uploading to the internet for sad nerds without lives to find.

oh my, you are bitter.

Fewer than 2% of the drivers who admit using mobiles at the wheel get caught. If you film it and report it the cops do nothing, a few posters here have tried. What do cyclists have left? How come most of the efforts to record commutes comes from riders? Cos they have the most to lose. And they're labeled "snitchers" and "teacher's pet" for recording drivers being idiots. Well, nobody else is doing it. Illegal driving has never been more likely to go undetected. The only weapon in our armoury is a helmet cam. Does this antagonise drivers? Only rubbish ones who are nervous about exposure. Is that the majority of drivers? Pffft, does Eamonn Holmes have rusty radiators?

It seems to be rather like the situation in Russia. Dash cameras opted for, due to problems with the police and with scammers. Here, it's the deliberate absence of policy on road KSI rates (no requirement made under ACPO for road death prevention) and police resources. Some sympathy for the police as funding is withheld for ideological reasons, but it's compounded by police inefficiency. Too many police empires:smile: In the face of reducing order, downward-manipulated crime figures to suit the Treasury PR men, road users (and householders no doubt) have to make alternative arrangements for civil recompense. Criminal law enforcement is at the whims of the local station. Rant off:smile:

This is exactly how I feel. The This Morning tweet particularly annoyed me yesterday as I had to report a van driver to the Police the day before. I was brake checked and threatened with violence for simply asking that this repeat offender (of very close overtakes) give me space. This Morning and Fiona Phillips are trying to legitimise bad driving and inconsiderate a***holes. From Thursday's encounter I had the feeling this guy had stoked up a lot of animosity towards riders by the way of his justification for driving close, his homophobic slurs (if I WAS gay it would still be unjustified), and that my lycra somehow "provoked" his response or means I "go out looking for trouble"

..I could have ignored his bumbling nonsense to a degree until He suggested he'd meet me along my route and then started naming the routes I often take. Police were sympathetic. Though I hold out little hope the driver will get dealt with other than a complaint logged.

There is no war. But even so why should I or anyone else put up with even 1% of the motoring traffic deliberately or incompetently putting us at risk..? Other riders also need to take a stand, and other road users need to join us and become more balanced/intelligent about whats going on.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
The OP should do something about his rusty radiators. Never a good sign. Bad maintainance if you ask me. What is this thread about? Eamon Holmes, bikes, motorists, rusty radiators, mobile phones or all of the above? I quite fancy some toast now.
