There's truth in that of course, but only up to a point, and it depends who 'they' are. Lexus can operate on that kind of market-led philosophy without reservation: they were created, from scratch, with precisely that in mind. But one of the things Jaguar buyers are looking for is something that's a Jaguar and not a Lexus, and that 'something' is far harder to pin down than market researchers might have you believe. Or maybe I'm wrong, and the market they play to now neither knows nor cares about Jaguar's unique heritage and (still) instantly identifiable 'look'. They just want a fast, smooth, comfortable etc car at the right price, and the name 'Jaguar' is nothing more than a sexy(ish) name.If that's what the market want, then that's what they have to build if they want customers.
Ford ... Detroit ??Absolutely. Which is why they neglect their differentiation at their peril. Looks like a false move to me, from a purely commercial perspective - a decision made by tone deaf 27 yr old hotshots at Ford in Detroit, with no appreciation of what makes (made) Jaguar Jaguar.

For a membership which by and large despises all things 4x4...I can't but help notice an awful lot of interest in this vehicle type...(just saying)

B.o.r.i.n.g Where's the "design"? Oh I see it, it's within the 2 clip on £10 plastic panels fore and aft. These are the bits nowadays that enable you to determine what manufacturer of car it is that is 6" in front of your nose. It instantly devalues the Jaguar brand. I woudln't buy one, just like I am not buying any more Aston Martins after this effort.

Beauty is in the eye etc etc......
I guess growing up in the 1960s I have a soft spot for it....just like I do for the early WHO, Peter Green, and Nobby Styles.
Beautiful, beautiful.....did it have an 8 track player for your Yes records?
