I thonk it is disbelief - At a time when you would expect cars becoming smaller and lighter, they are ballooning out of all proportions. We seem to be heading towards a future where all cars will be the size of transit vans
I think it's a flattery thing. If you make all the cars look fat, then some of the drivers will be more to scale...

The car in the OP looks like a BMW mated with an Audi and gave birth to that.

Sorry Jaguar fans, but I stopped loving them when they brought out their first diesel cars a few years ago.

I appreciate there may be economic justifications for them bringing out more fuel efficient vehicles, but in my book Jaguars should always have a big petrol engine with lots of carbs and lots of exhaust note.

As to the OP photo, I am sorry but the car just looks sh*te to me......

The opposite of these two must have been VW / Skoda They didn't put the VW badge onto the Skoda, they put the German engineering into it, and turned it into a desirable well made and reliable that is basically a cheaper VW car

VW is a good example of doing it right. They recognise their place in the market and keep to it. Instead of making cheaper VWs they make Skodas; which are broadening their market range without damaging their brand.
The did mess up with the phaeton luxury limo though.

Don't think its a good direction for jaguar to take their brand in to be honest. On past jags, I agree with the e type comments, never seen the appeal myself, but, strangely I used to think the xjs cab was really bad. It may well be, but I really would love to have one, I think it's an age thing. There was one at an independent dealership locally for months I used to pass every week, £8k. I don't regret not buying it though, probably would have spent another 10k getting it de rusted and up together!
