The SUV market is too large to ignore. Most automotive brands want a slice of the SUV pie. Even Porsche succumbed a few years ago!

I was reading a mag in the dentists yesterday, there was an article about a new MG, might have been this one, I have no idea, a blob-a-like anyway. One happy owner said it was the MG "heritage" that swung the buying decision.

We had a XKR for a few years, & the father-in-law has a X-Type (Mondeo in drag)
The XKR was nice, but a bit too civilised, whereas the X-Type feels exactly the same to drive (bar perhaps slightly differant spring rates?
as the '04' plate Mondeo my wife once had
I too, was revulsed by the proposed Jaguar SUV model
As for the 'ugly Range Rovers' comment, I was looking at the new model (L405) at my daughters School on Tuesday, & it's so...so... anonymous
Personally speaking, after owning 6 Landies, & driving inumerable 1970-1995 Range Rovers (the proper one!!)l, & a few P38s (the 94-2001/series 2 edition), I really dislike the new one, & the 'Ewok' as it's derisively called
That said, I'd like a L322, (3rd generation) but as a TDV8, now the prices are falling a bit
Sadly not available as a manual, but doubtless, someone will offer a conversion (at a exhorbitant price!!), like they do for XKRs/XJRs - using the Corvette/Viper/Challenger Tremec 6-speed box
Have driven the Jaguar F, as the diesel, & it's far preferable to something Barvarian..........

I am not sure how far between concept and production this is but there is a new Jaguar on the way-
I can put up with these ugly great cars when they are made by Range Rover or even Audi or Porsche but Jaguar; it just somehow seems wrong.

I must admit to prefering the soft top version of the E type shown by Rockymountain. I think they are more stylish.Did I ever mention about the time I won one of these in a competition*?
Have to say it was a right pose.
*I only had it for about a month...
That is desirable in my view. Cars are just fridges with wheels, after all.

I have no issue with Skodas but it does tend to be people who share your view of cars that buy Skodas. Your view may prevail as the top 10 cars in the UK at any time are a collection of bland soul destroying boxes.
I am interested; do you think the same about bikes and buy a Halfords cheapo, and shop at Primark as all clothes keep you warm and keep out the rain just as well?
It may just be an odd thing in that some of us see more to a car or many other things than their basic function. I have had a crap bike and a good bike, a crap car and a good car and the good one (with all sorts of ways of defining good) brightens my day.

I was not sure as there were a few images around but if your pic is the actual one then it still is as bad as the mock up.
A great exercise in using up lots of metal and lots more fuel in doing lots of things worse than they could be done.
Not a problem if you live (and buy your fuel) in Dubai/ UAE.
Still ugly, though - and definitely NOT a Jaguar ... a real Jaguar.
That's fair enough. I have several bikes and one crap car and towards the end of my ownership of a car its value usually dips below that of my best road bike. TBH I have no interest in most consumer gadgets - I don't have a tablet, camera, mobile phone, hifi or even wear a watch - and my use of a car is so basic that a bland soul destroying box will fulfil everything I need. Where I have a particular need I can tell a superior product as well as anyone else, and I'm prepared to pay for it, but consumers who covet goods which don't provide any rational advantage are the ones who are having their souls destroyed. Just a personal view, mind.
And you're right. That Jaguar is awful on my terms as well as yours.
