The mother-of-two was found guilty of causing the death of Mr Speed, 49, on the A91 road between Strathmiglo and Gateside, in Fife, on September 5 in 2013 by dangerous driving.
She was also convicted of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by deleting a record of a call she made just before the 999 call.
???
Not sure how it works down there in Englandshire; but this crime took place on the right side of the border for the "attempt to pervert the course of justice" charge to be competent. She knew she had done wrong and she tried to cover her tracks.
Up here, if you murder someone and then try to hide the body, you will be charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. Despite the fact that when you hid the body, there was no "investigation in place to thwart"; which, if I am reading your post correctly, is what you mean.
Incidentally, remission for good behaviour policies are different in Scotland too. 50% for sentences less than 4 years; one third for sentences of 4 years and over. The Scottish Government were looking at doing away with automatic remission altogether. Not sure how far that ever got.
