It is interesting to read the history regarding America and it's vilification of pedestrians, I think it popped up in a thread on here recently, definitely don't want that happening here, thank you!

Rightly or wrongly, pedestrians are the King (and Queens) of the road despite what motorists think.

Actually it wasn't on here, funny enough just seen the same YT video with the link to the BBC article http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26073797
My hero mikael Coalville Andersen covers this extensively. Think this is the one:

Apparently you can walk across or along a road anywhere in the UK other than motorways. In the US this is considered jaywalking therefore illegal, the punishment depends on the colour of the offender.

No my friend, not as such. So long as you don't cause carnage you can cross where you like.
True.
I was told by a policeman that the only right of way that pedestrians have is on an actual marked crossing point.
If they aren't on a crossing then a car doesn't have to give way/stop for them

Tooley Street seems to be a magnet for Ped/Bike interactions. It's even a problem after midnight when the FNR rolls through.

And yet I see cyclists sprinting hard every time I'm there. IMO Tooley Street marks the end of the hard ride, time to take it easy!

And a magnet for bike thieves...I had a bike nicked there on a busy Sunday afternoon from outside On Your Bike (before they hid it behind Southwark Cathedral somewhere)!

There is no such thing as jaywalking in the UK. If a pedestrian suddenly turns and steps out directly in front of your front wheel, fair enough, there's nothing you can do. But filtering has to be done at a speed that assumes pedestrians will emerge from between parked cars, and anytime a pedestrian heads toward a road, you have to assume they won't look.
when a car hits a cyclist the driver should have been looking out for cyclists and have taken more care, when a cyclist hits a pedestrian the pedestrian should have been looking out for cyclists and have taken more care. Do cyclists ever have any responsibilities anywhere ever?
No.

Unless they are Jeremy Clarkson.

Next question?
