I know little of the man and have no opinion of him although I think that if the allegations are true, then it would be fair to regard him as a second rate human being.

However, what I find baffling and a little amusing is the idea in the OP that professional footballers are somehow supposed to set a moral example to the young. Professional football is a whore of a game and has, to be fair to it, never pickly prided itself on any sort of sporting ethic (something which we still expect of rugby and cricket and hence feel genuinely let down when something bad is done in those sports) and it generally attracts and is played by the chav end of the sports world. Surely this matter should be no particular surprise and should be taken as coming with the territory.

Of course you can't blame him for his parents but it's a hell of a good benchmark. Same as when some people blame the parents of a wayward child.
Quite different - parents bring up the child, not the other way round..

It's also not an "allegedly" as he took out an injunction to stop him being named. Not the act of an innocent man.
You know nothing about the circumstances, Greedo, beyond what journalists have told you. He may have done it. Or he may have not have, and thought that he would rather not have ten pages of bollox smeared across the red-tops for the prurient to lap up.

I don't care whether he has or not. But he is perfectly entitled to argue in the courts that there is no public interest which over-rides his right to privacy.

Curious that you don't ever see 'revealing stories' and any 'in the public interest' items about the bed hopping and skullduggery of newspaper barons and editors and so on.xx(

They must all be so upstanding.xx(xx(

You can't possibly blame JT for the misdeeds of his parents, Greedo.

And how on earth is it newsworthy that he allegedly had an affair with the ex-grilfriend of an ex-team mate? That doesn't make him a scumbag. It doesn't even make him unusual in most workplaces.

And why is he a role model? He doesn't put himself forward as one, that's something that journalists (who set the benchmark for philandering and dishonesty) try to impose on him.

Agreed 100%.

One of the reasons i very read a newspaper is the fact that theres very little interesting news in them.

And as for greedo's assumption that he is a scumbag, well he is in good company as this type of behaviour is commonplace the length and breadth of the country. Out of the 12 people on my shift at least 8 are scum by his calculation.

Ok i have heard from an extremely reliable source that the full story has not been revealed, all i was told is 'well if the rest of the information is published, John Terry is in deep trouble'. Read into what you will, there is something dodgy going on far beyond what we have heard.

If you mean at least 8 out of the 12 people you work with have had/are having an affair then thats truly shocking to me. We live in a sad world.

Why would it shock you, I would suggest that its more common than you may like to think
Well it's a ****ing travesty. I suppose i was hoping the majority of people were bought with morals, i thought the minority may cheat on their partner, not the majority!

I wish they'd upheld the ban on talking about it as it's every bloody where today and the only thing I give a monkeys about is not giving a monkeys about it.
