Jules Verne...help identifying a story.....

The reason I remembered was that we had the usual Science links with Jules Verne's books, but one teacher used this one to question whether Verne had predicted the growth of German Nationalism and the rise of Hitler

We then had an essay to write for History and instead of the classic history answer, I had included the suggestion that if we had listened to Verne, many of the errors would have been avoided
Did not get me a good mark!

I took Geology at degree level as I read Journey to the Centre of the Earth when I was a nipper. Love the James Mason '59 version. Sadly, the 2008 Brendan Fraser attempt was pants.

Finished it... Its a novella but enjoyed it immensely... Waited many years to read it.

It certainly showed once again Verne's uncanny insight in to future developments in both science and society... Similar to Orwell in 1984...

I really must read more of the collection I've got on Kindle

Have you seen this film? The director, Karel Zeman, tried to remain as faithful to the original books as possible. It's available in about 10 parts on YouTube.
