just a quick update..i'm now back in blighty..father still in portugal
got a flight out on the thursday morning to see him in intensive care.....conscious but not completly all there...very slow and slurred speech..apparantly the brain injury was made worse as he suffers from hyper tension and was taking aspirin which didnt help the bleed..late thursday he was taken from IC to a regular ward..neurologists said he will make a complete recovery..but it will take time...slurring has gone....still a little slow..suffers from dizziness/nausia and appears to have a bit of short memory loss..stitches are now out of forhead and will have a pretty tasty scar there!

he had an op on his shoulder last monday and is now the proud owner of a metal plate and 6 screws!

was discharged from hospital on wednesday..but cant fly due to an airline reg that says no flights till 15 days after major head trauma..going for a fit to fly cert on monday....motorhome will be transported home.

travel insurance was next to useless thank god for for E1-11/nhic

ward he was taken to for some reason was an ortho and neuro ward...ok..apt for dad...but most of bed neghbours had severe mental issues and two were tied to their beds....very distressing to see...asked insurance co to move him to private room/hosprital they said no as he was taken to state hospital and must remain there for rest of treatment..like my dad who, unconscious in the hospital could tell the driver to take him elsewhere..and when do private hospitals have emergency rooms?

still not entirely sure what happened to him..although the medical report has cited aggression as reason for trauma

thanks for everyones best wishes
