Hi there. Just joined today because I had my bike stolen this morning. Sometime between 9.30 and 10.30 some git cut my samsonite cable in a public busy place covered with CCTV, right outside barbican gym. Spoken to police and got crime number etc. I never normally leave it outside but was in a hurry today. Just shows what can happen. Came across a couple of coppers just up the road and they said they would keep a look out. Not nice.

If anyone comes across it in a second hand bike shop, or if someone looks out of place on it, can you please let me know

Specialised allez elite. Black and red with twin water bottles and sticky race number on saddle "pole". Thanks

First time bike stolen, and first time last week I was hit by a car too. Hope insurance covers the bike, will find out this evening.

Bad news about your bike, but I believe Numbnuts was just having a friendly little joke.... hence the smiley.

If you really have taken that comment to heart then perhaps this isn't the best forum for you. I do hope that once you've calmed a little you'll stick around though, this is a great forum with plenty of advice/guidance and people to talk to.

Welcome and bad luck and Numbnuts was merely pulling your leg but perhaps when you've had your bike stolen this morning then it is a bit harder to see the humour that was intented.

Hi again. Ah ok sorry chief a little pissed to say the least. My pride and joy. Not really seeing many jokes or good things today. I thought the crash was bad enough. Oh well, fingers crossed it may pop up somewhere. I didn't know who else to talk to about it, so thought it best to join a forum. Never know, someone here may have seen something. I guess my follow up questions over the coming weeks will be, what to replace her with, not that I want to think like that. Lol it's almost like a relationship breakup!

Hi Simon and welcome to the forum. It's horrible having a steed stolen. A lot of us on Cycle Chat have experienced the same and it isn't nice. Have yourself keep an eye on the usual places, Gumtree & Ebay etc. Post up a pic on here if you can so the good CycleChat peeps can get mobilised and have a look out for it.

Oh yeah, don't worry about numbnuts, an automatic ban will sort him out for upsetting newcomers... (not really, in jest of course ;))

Hiya Simon,

Sorry to hear about your double bad luck; I don't blame you for being pi$$ed.
A mate of a mate had his bike, a Brompton nicked in central Dublin; a year later he saw a bloke riding it. He then saw it locked up outside a shop so he locked it up too, when the bloke came back, he said he'd bought of some guy in the pub and gave it back when told the full story. I hope you get your bike back too!

Thanks peeps. Will stick around then as you've been nice

Good idea about gumtree etc, will take a look this evening. Makes it worse that the weather is so good and the tubes will be dire.

Boohooo! Cheers all

G'day Simon. Bad luck mate. That sucks big time. But, and I hate to say it, the bike's gone. The chances of anyone finding it, let alone looking for it are next to nil. You've just gotta remember the good times 'cause it's all over now...

...and get yourself down to Condor for some retail therapy! Nothing beats the bike theft blues like a bit of credit card ready browsing!

Bummer about the bike - let's hope the scrotes rot in eternal damnation.

Yup, spend your way out of misery with a new bike - you're doing the country a favour too and supporting local business. Everyone's a winner.

Yeah i am very saddenered by my loss, and i am trying to look on the bright side of having a new bike. But I know it wont be the same  She was really in need of a service too, brakes were shot, so hopefully they will find out they don't work well! off to look on gumtree etc.

I've got a pic of it, but not sure how to upload it to the forum yet? Any ideas please.

Glad you stuck around, we're a nice bunch really (apart from User3143 when he wants to be a bad boy )
