It's like a cheap knock-off scouse version of a Chopper. Get it from Netto?

No my nostalgia doesn't work that way. I've seen blokes on choppers and they look ridiculous. If I wanted to re-capture the feeling, I'd go for a modern beach cruiser. Besides, 300 quid and beside that one, I've never seen one.

You sound a bit beside yourself on this
No, nostalgia is complex but for me objects carry nostalgia because they've been on the journey with you, buying another one of the same doesn't have the same feeling. Like now, I'm looking at a plastic craft knife, long blunt but I still have it. I still have it because it went to art college with me, travelled in my Pakit seat pack to cut rubber sheet for puncture repairs and went to Uni with me.. Picking it up can invoke many memories, I wouldn't get that same feeling if I bought another one the same. So no, I won't go looking for another Panther but I'm happy to have filled in a gap in my memory.

I think it cost more than the Chopper, was lighter and handled better. I owned two choppers later too because I missed the Panther when it went but they weren't the same.

No idea about Netto, never been but you seem to know a lot about it.

From retrowow.com:

"In 1970 it (the Chopper) cost £34 19s (£360 in today's money). The Chopper was so popular in 1970 that retailers had to persuade adults it was not a suitable bike for them".

Looks a cracker. I used to have a Black MK2 chopper with the metallic flames on the chain cover. Loved it, but probably was never intended for the miles I did on it. Had a new seat as the original snapped, and went through tyres.

I wasn't allowed to have a chopper as they were apparently too dangerous (that small front wheel and the "ape hanger" handlebars)

I had a couple of friends with them so I had a few rides  I can remember the steering was a bit "twitchy". One of those I rode had a rear derailleur and at least 5 gears, I remember it having a second shifter beside the regular 3 speed - not sure if this was an optional extra or an aftermarket modification.

I never could do wheelies, on anything
Going over the handlebars was one of my (unintentional) specialities ........requiring an A&E visit on one occasion for stitches. I have only repeated the manoeuvre once as an adult, fortunately with less impressive consequences.

Just found a pic of a 5 speed chopper like the one I rode, they were apparently all this "pink" colour :
I had one of them made in made in Dottingham things, but an MK1, so you could turn the chopper handlebars back and make it easy to do wheelies and crack the back of your skull open..
I had the Mk1. Bought it for 6 quid off a school friend. It was pretty knackered and didn't even have brakes. I ended up buying a mk2 off someone else and then transferring the bars and seat off the Mk1. The seat was a lot longer on the Mk1, so we bent the rear seat supports in the grid outside the house so we could get it in. it made it really easy to pop wheelies and I travelled everywhere on one wheel.

You're very wise, I recently recaptured the feeling of the bike of my youth, written about elsewhere in this forum, it became and obsession for a while, cost a fortune, and the finished product is sitting in my shed unused.

I vaguely recall this, give us the link then. Don't tell me it was a chopper, because I'm going to feel a right heel if it was.
