OK put the shoe on the other foot. your dad/brother/mother whoever walks out of ASDA and somebody on a bike hits him. he has a sore mouth but thinks nothing of it at first. later in the day it locks as its fractured. he goes off to hospital and has an operation but doesn't make it out of the anaesthetic.

Ok its a real bad worse case scenario but entirely possible.
