Well the ban is not because they are unsafe to drive for six months then magically become safe again. The main intent of the ban is to make them think about it and make them very relucatnt to risk being banned again.

A good point. So, next time for Mr C it's £2m. if he does it again £4m, and keep doubling until he doesn't offend ^_^ . Much more effective than £600 fines.

Were is not an "unsustainable" option I'd be suggesting crush the car the offence was committed in. If driver doesn't own it then tough, driver is responsible for the vehicle they are in control of and thus their responsibility to resolve with the owner. When offence recorded note in log book so available to anybody buying the car (just like buyers used/still do HP checks). ...

So they should definitely be banned, because not only will they then be absolutely safe for the duration of the ban, but the experience of the ban will make them not want to be banned again, which will mean that they are then safer post ban. Rich people buying themselves out of bans doesn't seem to me to be a terribly helpful policy direction, hence my post.

Banned for driving for the seventh time!
Just take her license away now. She is a danger to herself and everyone else. One day she will kill somebody.
