Chicken every time for me, but one cooked on the little skewers over the coals with salad, not one the huge spinning one dripping with grease

Yeah, but were they doner kebabs? They've only ever seemed like a good idea after several pints too many...

Yep, the real thing. Or a very close approximation of it made from eyelids and floorsweepings and compressed into a big lump of fat and gristle and slowly reheated for several days. I'm sober now and don't fancy one after typing that out.

There's a place down the road from me who do a huge kebab........ in a naan bread!!! Loaded with chili sauce it is the nicest kebab i have ever tasted.

I know it won't be long before the government is empowered to take your kids into care if they catch you eating this stuff, but I've just been and bought a polystyrene box stuffed full of doner meat and chips, with loads of chilli sauce and onions. Absolutely delicious.
Does anyone else have a weakness for things they know are bad for them?

I have a terrible weakness for steak and kidney pudding, with the pastry made with proper beef suet - none of your light rubbish.

Oh yes, you've got me salivating now.

I think my grandmother used to steam/boil these in muslin, but I could be wrong.

I live in a place called Great Harwood (just down the way from Blackburn), here doth reside "The Clakky Diner", what is the "The Clakky Diner", you may ask?

Well it's a chip shop not an ordinary chip shop mind... It's a chip shop that only sells traditional fare in the form of chips, fish, pies and steak & kidney puddings, mmm so what so special about that then you ask, well all of the pies and puddings are all lovingly homemade none of that pre-made cack.

If you want the piece de resistance in Babby's Heads (Steak & Kidney Puddings) then you must make a pilgramage to the Clakky.

I'd love to try a proper doner - hammered out strips of marinated lamb all threaded onto a giant skewer and cooked slowly for hours. But the reconstituted elephant legs I can really do without...

Our local chippy sells the normal keebab for £3.60 which is a meal in itself but also sells a large one for £3.90 which is easily double the size of the cheaper one so you get a post booze stomach filler and next mornings breakfast in one.

Always head for Hackney when I'm in London. A kebab from a proper ocakbasi restaurant is about as good as it gets...

On Monday, and for the first time in absolutely ages, I went to the chippy to get dinner.

Was rather surprised how pricey the fish was, but it was delicious - freshly cooked, steamily hot, light batter (and not too much of it) and went a treat with some lovely fluffy chips and chipshop curry sauce.

My cats, of course, glared accusingly at me until I gave them each a (large) lump of fish

Never been a fan of doner meat, but you might like them to try one of these next time you're North of the border. (or maybe not)

For me its fried chicken or a shish, after a skin-full, or pizza when sober.
