Just heard Radio 2 presenter Ken Bruce announce his impending move from Radio 2 .

Came as a shock to me, and I have enjoyed his show over the years

Retiring or something new? He’s about the only one I ever listen to much. I just find his voice pleasant, no doubt as he’s a fellow Scot.

Ken joined the BBC in 177 as a BBC Radio Scotland staff presenter and landed his first regular slot on Radio 2 was the Saturday Late Show in 1984.

His sense of humour has always kept me amused. I guess he's been offered a contract he couldn't refuse, either that or he was faced with the chop from the beeb due to his age.

No, I think the Beeb were going to keep him as long as. He pulls a very very big audience.

We almost exclusively listen to Greatest Hits Radio now, unless it’s Ken Bruce time on R2. All the old Radio 2 and 1 DJs are over there. The playlist can get a bit stale sometimes but Simon Mayo is always a great listen.

I've got that station stored in one of the pre-sets in the car, on the rare occasion I listen to Radio. It's quite good, if only that it plays good old fashioned hits rather than the hits of today (like on Radio 1) which seem to all be UK Grime

When I was working I found a bit of R2 soothing; since retirement i have more headspace and it's R6 or R3 for me.
