During business hours, most cycle shops are happy to loan you a track pump aren't they? Whenever I've asked they've been accommodating, it's never occurred to me that one might actually refuse.

I have had one refuse me the use of a track pump. I had to use my mini pump while standing outside the shop.

This happened a few years ago and I have never forgotten it or entered the shop again despite it being on my commute route.

Interesting! However, I can't see it getting much use - you might use it for the odd 'top up' or if you were (un)fortunate enough to have a puncture close to it.

I saw a Sheffield-style stand someplace where one of the uprights was an integral pump - that might be more useful...there's been a few times when I've been back to my locked bike only to discover it had had a slow puncture and the tyre was completely flat.

Brixton Cycles has one on the pavement during opening hours, Balfe Bikes on the Kennington Rd were told by council jobworths they can't keep their's outside. They've been told it's unauthorised advertising or something.
Anyhoo, I'm gonna head out now to gawp at this shiny one in the OP. Will report back...

If they charge for use of their pumps, I'm making a note never to buy an inner tube off them. Or anything else for that matter. That's disgraceful!
