I don't think so. Where it attaches is right next to the bottom bracket and it's only really compressing the tubes which I think they'll be more than strong enough to take.

Having said that I wouldn't use a stand anyway. I always either lie the bike down on the ground or lean it against something. It can fall over quite easily if it's on a stand and may get damaged. It can't fall over if it's already on the ground! ;0)

I'd a 2nd hand Raleigh Richmond bought for next to nothing that had one of those on already and it had squashed the tubes to a sort of square shape. Lasted a few years before everything totally wore out..

There's always this style instead, attaching in the rear dropout area.

Some bikes have a plate welded in for attaching the BB stands to - you'd discard the top half of the clamp and bolt to the plate.
