Was about to send you details of where we stayed a few years ago, and the checked it on the internet to discover that it is "temporarily closed"...which I appreciate is not much use to you.

Have you tried Golant YHA? It looks like it has lots of family rooms, and like most Youth Hostels will be very child friendly.

Charlestown?

I stayed here a few years ago. SPectacular harbour views and although NOt a pub, there is a lively one in thevillage and a large cafe.

Can be a bit "touristy" though in the season.

Edited - and although not cheap there is also the opportunity occasionally to go out on a real tall ship!

There's a nice place called the Ferry Boat Inn in Boddinick (sp?) near Fowey. Nice bar, good restaurant, friendly place.
There were children staying there the first time I was there. I think they may have a family room.

Royal Inn Par has family room(s) excellent food etc. I don't remember much in the way of play area etc - but they were pretty child friendly while we were there

Hope you enjoy your stay. When in the area, the Lost Gardens of Heligan are well worth a visit. I liked them better than Eden which always strikes me as like a laboratory experiment. Heligan is more of a real garden and the walks through the various areas are truly impressive with real history. They were rescued and restored by the same man that did Eden
