Kindle Library question

Just got my Kindle through the post despite Amazon saying it would be after Christmas delivery. Desperate to try it out now.

Can anyone tell me how much an E-reader weighs? Some hardback books are very heavy. If you get a "cover" does that open up so you can hold it like a book?

Only 247 grams, weighs less than a paperback

The official Amazon Kindle cover does open like a book.

Thank you for that link, Colin, to the Kindle cover. Scrolling down the screen gives me a picture of how big it is etc.

I think in the January sales, I may well be purchasing a Kindle.

What, briefly, is the advantage of the keyboard, on the Kindle? Does this enable me to send e-mails? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Speicher, you won't be able to get them in the January sales as you can only buy them online, but you will be in good company because it's been estimated there will have been 8 million Kindle sales in 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The keyboard allows you to search for book titles on Amazon, but can also be used with the rudimetary website for checking your e-mail and posting on CC, for example.
