As a once long distance runner I have marked each decade with a " silly " run. These started in miles to chime with the number of my birthday, but you can see the drawback in that they would get progressively more difficult the older I get. 40 was the silliest by far with an extra zero ( and then some ) on the end, and by the time 70 arrived I knew that the distance on foot was beyond me so did a 70mile bike ride with Mrs Tkk ( the furthest that I've ever cycled ). Now 80 is just a few short years away I was mulling over what I could possible do. 80 metres? too trivial, ditto 800 metres. 8km? not really, though health may dictate that that is the distance. A flash of inspiration on my walk last week, Imperial units to the rescue, Furlongs! 80 Furlongs on my 80th birthday would chime really well, fingers crossed I'm fit enough when the time comes 🤞

Same here. I'll use metric up to 10-12mm then its half inch, three quarters, inch and feet. But... if I'm drawing out plans for something I'm building, I'll use feet and metres all jumbled up.
Venue yet to be decided Classic. Nearest racecourse is Salisbury, and that has convenient Furlong markers though the " going " might be a bit rough with all the horses hooves having churned up the grass 😁 I'm a little unnerved by your interest, especially going by your avatar, you don't have another job do you?....😉

Goodwood used to have camping in summer. I ran round that course as a kid.

Oh to be a fly on that wall!
And apparently, when motorways first opened, anyone fortunate to have owned an E-type could belt along said motorway and watch the fuel gauge rapidly dropping - !
