Puzzle game procrastinator!
Well we had a talk, and the mrs is 'happy' to accept me riding a Brompton again. Her thinking is that I did over 19,000 miles on it with (iirc) no near misses apart from a slide on an icy road.

I'm happier with that compromise than hill walking, this time tho it'll be a h2l (2speed with mudguards)...
Glad to hear that, though you will still be welcome to join me on foot if you fancy doing that too!

Cheers guys,

Went to see the specialist on the 27th, the good news is I don't need to have an operation. It's confirmed as broken but he said it seemed to be healing ok, ie I shouldn't end up with a deformed joint.

Still painful, but with the painkillers I can use it to about 60% of motion. I changed the tyres on the mtb and cleaned it as well, wasn't too painful...still wont straighten properly tho.

The weird thing is tho, he said it can take anything from 4 weeks to 4 years to heal correctly. I hope it's four weeks, I feel sorry for the poor buggers who have fours years of pain.

The amount I could straighten my arm increased over months and most people wouldn't know I couldn't straighten my arm as much as my left - just me - it straightens as much as the average person's just doesn't have the over extension (slightly hypermobile joints) that it used to. And the pain improves too - I'm not in pain with it generally. I do have one spot when I'm lifting a heavy weight that I can't take my arm through rather weirdly as it sort of locks/hurts but I have just adjusted the way I lift things around that.

You sound as though you can do more than I could with the arm that soon after breaking it so hopefully a very quick recovery.

Cheers,

The Dr said the same a you, that I can use it more than I should be able too so soon. He said it wouldn't do any damage using it, in fact he said the sooner you use a busted elbow the better the recovery.

I think the 20 years of being a rough arse contractor has left me with a high pain threshold....or the painkillers are kick ass good...:smile:.

Get well soon, only just seen this. Accidents are few and far between, so don't give up. As you know, keep that joint moving as it will promote fast healing. I was on the bike on road after three weeks after my shoulder decompression, again under physio's instruction/advice about not doing too much.
