This might sound like a commonplace occurance but it was a fellow cyclist that took me out.
I was at the lights on Clapham High St at the junction of Bedford Rd, by Clapham North Tube. I was at the front as the lights changed and headed off, but after a couple of pedal stokes this bloke cycled into me and eventually pushed me over. I landed in a heap and he just shouted at me saying he was indicating to turn left. Well he might have been but as he was behind me I wouldn´t have seen him! He didn´t stick around to see if I and the bike were ok. I was gobsmacked to be honest. He was behaving like a thoughtless motorist but without the usual excuse that ´he didn´t see me´. Maybe this guy thought that he would be much quicker than me or something? If he´s reading this maybe he´d like to explain.

Special name for people like that, Mr W. Anker

Cameramanjim must have some footage, right?

Or maybe some local CCTV does?

If someone did that to me, I might be so inclined to report them. If I didn't have much confidence of achieving a result with it, and I thought I might encounter the same cyclist again on my route, I might carry a pedal spanner with me next time.

its a very common occurence. I have watched a fair few cyclists do this to other cyclists in the last 6 months alone. and yes i have stopped every time and checked the cyclist is OK and bike still rideable for em

It happened to me once at junction of Old Street and A10 ( under the rail bridge by Browns ;) ) but i didn't come off the bike .

makes you wonder if these cyclists have any road sense at all. Thankfully its not all that are like this.

I used to live on that corner (no, I did not work at Browns ;-). I once walked home from Oxford St counting road vs pavement cyclists and had reached 80 (road) vs 2 (pavement) at Old St rbt. By the time I got to my flat it was more like 85 (road) vs 12 (pavement). And that's not counting the fixie-wheeling shoreditch poodles

(Numbers are approximate, orders of magnitude are correct. It was a couple of years ago)

I know that junction well and usually stop a little to the right to try and avoid arse's like this.

Coruskate -
You will be surprised how many more are using the pavement. Especially at union street.

At the time I thought there was no damage done but next day noticed the sleeve of my fairly new Endura jacket had been chained. Tried to get the grease marks out with white spirit but no joy. I shall be looking out for him next time I´m there at around 7.15 pm!

I'm not inclined to be so charitable. It strikes me that this has little to do with a lack of 'road sense', and more to do with just being an aggressive bully.

I've had the opposite problem in reverse ... I've stopped at the lights intending to turn left but not placing myself right in the gutter and then find that a cyclist comes up from behind and into that space... now I always say I'm intending to turn left ... just to be on the safe side and then we either swap or one goes before the other. Barging into a person in your way isn't the right way...!!

Have to say that I attend a lot of meetings in London, and recently after taking up cycling myself, I have taken much more notice of cyclists in London.

On tuesday morning I was walking to a meeting in Islington from Kings Cross Station.

I dont know the name of the roads, near Angel, but it is a very busy crossroads.

The lights were on red and a large number of cyclists and motorists were stood stationary waiting for the lights to change, when one cyclist, in full attire, went around the central bollards on the wrong side and straight across the crossroads swerving back into the correct lane.

I looked up to check and the lights were quite clearly still red.

When the lights did change and the cyclists started away another male cyclist barged straight past a female cyclist that was in front of him, nearly knocking her off.

I was quite amazed and glad that London isn't somewhere that I cycle.
