The opening stages feel like a lifetime ago. The weeks in my life continue to fly past but the some reason the 2.5 weeks of the race seem to be on a different timeline altogether.

It was a cowardly and reckless act that could have ended the careers of some of the world's best riders. Gaudu should be banned from cycling for ever.*

Mads definitely wasn't humbled though, more like the opposite. When you look at this top ten you have to wonder why he ever though he was in with a chance, he's definitely the odd one out

*Nothing actually very wrong with it, it was a dive-bomb but the gap was there. Vingegaard was just taken by surprise, it probably felt a lot closer from his perspective. The "cheating out of a stage win" was more because Lidl-Trek worked their arses off for the whole stage. Gaudu should still be banned from cycling though, just on the basis that I irrationally dislike him.

Poor Mads, has to wear green today, instead of his magnificent Dannebrog as Danish ITT Champ.
He had a very bad day yesterday and tomorrow is a key stage for him, otherwise I think he might have given it a real bash today - especially as it's been shortened.

He could lose, or he could win a neutered and shortened race, which is almost as bad.

Hopefully we get to see full stages for the rest and that Jonas gets over his illness to have a proper dig

Yeah, if I were Vernon I'd want it over with ASAP. "Ride it like you stole it" replaced now with "Ride it like someone might lob a half brick at you at any moment"
