Following from Hilldodgers 'Peregrin' thread. Hilldodger pointed out the mistakes in a 1895 catalogue (cranks on wrong side etc.). The latest Lacoste ad shows things never change:

Also came across a Lacoste Cycle helmet. I'm a sucker for tweed:

I'm actually struggling with a reason why a bike wouldn't work with the drivetrain on the LHS. A freewheel wouldn't work, I suspect, but would a fixie be doable?

Reverse-threads would be the wrong way round, so in theory could unscrew themselves.

Not sure what's going on in that picture - two bikes have LHS-drive, one has RHS.

Aye. So I'd need to get a tandem chainset - the sort at the front of a tandem that has cross-over drive? That's doable.
Mind you, some of the more hardcore threadlock would be cheaper;)

At a guess, the image is a composite of three separate bike pictures. In the originals, the young filly riding solo was riding left to right so, when they flicked it for the final image, she appears to have the drive train on the wrong side.

It could, of course, be a bike with the chain on the left, but I reckon it's just a reversed image.
