Hey

Was looking at investing in Assos Ladies short sleeve jersey- tried the mens jersey on and that fit ok - nowhere seems to stock the women's stuff to try on...;) I know it's a niche marker- anyone know of any London based Ladies Assos stockists?

Anyone got Assos kit? Some serious technical perks but you do pay highly for them!! Usual race/bike jersey suffice or is Assos really worth the very extortionate price?

Also considering bib tights - any ladies use the Assos tights?
Treating myself hopefully ahead of a Tri race in August but this could get a bit ridiculous...

just got a slightly used apir of their lower end bib shorts and wore them on the Dunwich 110 off miler

excellent, I'd say based on that, that they're worth it if you can afford it, my fairly cheerful Santini shorts feel rather crap now after wearing the Assos ones

Where abouts are you? condor in town have stock, sigma at kingston, gbcycles in croydon.
Avoid velcro(ALWAYS USE THE WASH BAGS) it hates assos and using normal washing powder will destroy the logos and the textile on their kit.
It's always cheaper to buy online.

If you goto bikeradar and type in assos, they have 3 pages of reviews on thier kit.

The fabric on my Assos bibs is deteriorating after 3 years wear (maybe 30 - 35 rides). I've always used the supplied wash bag but never their washing powder.

Whilst they are by far the best bibs I own comfort wise, I am not impressed with their longevity. I have cheaper bibs that I wear more often and they are lasting better. I expected more of Assos, that's what you pay for after all.

I got them from Primera in Bournemouth and their response was pretty much 'stuff wears out'.

My experience of the ladies assos kit is that it's a brilliant fit, performs extremely well in terms of comfort, sweat wicking and in terms of longevity (but we do wash all cycling kit on hand wash/delicates cycle and with special delicates or wool laundry liquid). I can only wear assos shorts. I haven't found any others that don't hurt me. I have 5 pairs (I wear each once before washing) and cycle-commute most days, as well as doing track cycling during the week, plus I've the weekend ride, so I wear/wash every pair of shorts at least once a week with no problems. Assos have mended (free of charge) several of my crash damaged, torn assos garments, including a torn pair of bib tights (and even replacing the worn assos logo). The repairs are so good you can't see them at all. They have also replaced a five year old jersey zip free of charge. Their after sale customer care is second to none.

Ditto Blonde - the chamois is indestructible and the most comfortable thing I've ever ridden on. Even if the lycra does eventually wear out the chamois is good for years and can be worn under training tights. I only have one pair but use them at least once a week and sometimes twice, and they are always clean on. I've done literally thousands of miles on them and they are still good. I'm about to invest in my second pair! I do have some other shorts (Nike are OK) but they pale in comparison, especially for touring.

I don't wear the assos tops because they don't fit me - I'm built like a downhiller, not a skinny roadie. However the leg, arm and knee warmers, and other accessories are all brilliant quality and do exactly what they're supposed to.

This is what I've heard. Did you deal with Assos direct? Primera (where I bought my bibs from) really couldn't care less.

Let me re-iterate, my Assos shorts are the best I have comfort-wise. It just really disappoints me that the lycra is wearing thin.

Ah Tynan - this is where it starts!!! ;)

Guys thanks for the comprehensive feedback - topcat1 - I'll check out Condor as I'm London based as I know Condor have Assos in stock usually but not sure they have women's stuff - loads of the Evans shops have it in stock but just the mens stuff. Idea is to try it for size and buy online but with tri coming up soon not sure it will be delivered in time!

Depends maybe how you care for them. I use Ecover liquid for delicates on a low temp wash (30dg C) or a -40 deg C with a low spin. if you put them in the dryer, use a low temp or preferably hang dry

Always low temp delicate wash with my other cycling gear. Always lined dried, never tumble dried.

I dealt directly with assos. Generally, the more technical the fabric, the more care it seems to need - the assos kit has similar care instructions to those in competition swimwear. If necessary you can use a biological stain remover (such as a Vanish soap-bar) directly on the chamois, but you must rinse it well before washing in the machine, and do not allow any kind of bio stain remover, or bio wash liquid/power onto the lycra part of the shorts, as it will degrade the fabric.
