I think it's going to be fascinating comparing the two "teams" in real time as they dash round very similar routes!

One bit caught my eye:
"As a trial run, I will ride across the US in March with the support crew as a test of equipment, team
dynamics and to verify my fitness. We will simulate around the world pace & strategy, covering 240 miles per day
while optimizing sleep & recovery. This will also be a test run for live coverage and promotion."

Anyone seen any updates on that? Might be interesting to ascertain the size/type of support team/vehicles.

You're thinking of his 2008 record, that one was self supported and took 194 days.

In 2017 he was completely supported by a campervan driving by him. He would ride 4 hour stints, then rest in the van. He had a small team in the van that took care of his needs.

This was the 78 day record that Leal is attempting to break. If she succeeds then this is directly comparable to Marks record and will be an amazing achievement.

If thats the case. Yes it will be an amazing achievement. I woder if Mark would give it another go. There are other people who could do it and beat the record. But riding the bike is only half the battle. Its a huge financial commitment.

She's ridden every road in Alaska (her home state). I think it's 5,000 miles, not sure how long it took, but it was a kinda one-off project.

It depends how you define 'road'.
