Laphroaig SELECT anyone ?

A fan of peaty whiskies, I loved it.

Presently waiting for the Hearrach to appear. Rumour is that it'll be less peaty than say Talisker.

I'm a big fan of the Islay malts but do admit they can be an acquired taste - they're the Marmite of whisky.

Talisker is my tipple of choice, although Laphroaig and Caol Ila are very good too.

If you're new to them I'm told a top tip is to add just a drop or two of water, although I'm sure that the very thought of that will have some purists up in arms 😉

They literally tell you to do that and provide you with a jug of water on the distillery tasting tour so if anyone tells you not to, their opinion can be safely disregarded.

We had an old friend to stay, who professed to like whisky. Being the perfect host I plied her with various single malts from my collection; and a good time was had by all.

When she left, she gifted me “the best whisky”. On opening I had to enthuse over Johnny Walker Red.

A bit of a let down.

I thought that was for cleaning paintbrushes.
