I'm a big fan of the Islay malts but do admit they can be an acquired taste - they're the Marmite of whisky.

Talisker is my tipple of choice, although Laphroaig and Caol Ila are very good too.

If you're new to them I'm told a top tip is to add just a drop or two of water, although I'm sure that the very thought of that will have some purists up in arms 😉

They literally tell you to do that and provide you with a jug of water on the distillery tasting tour so if anyone tells you not to, their opinion can be safely disregarded.
