View attachment 403075 Here is what your Elan might look like with a rack pack. I do think I prefer the look of yours with the Barley though. I have tried Ortileb and found the same problem you have experienced. My rack pack has drop down paniers which are useful for me when out with the family or for a short credit card style tour.

Another Elan! Stunner. I do have an Ortlieb rack pack which looks a little like a shoe box. I do like it, but vanity won me over with the Barley. I do tend to swap things around though and I’m sure I’ll try it again in the winter.

Have you tried a frame bag? Judging from your pictures you ride a small frame, but a smaller bag might work.

I use a restrap frame bag for longer days, which works well. Quick access via zip, waterproof and out of the way.
