I gave up on electric ones after years of mowing through the cable. We were the insulating tape industry's biggest client. We had to borrow a rechargeable mower (an expensive Bosch one, top of the range Li-Ion) while our petrol mower was being fixed after an argument with a tree stump. It was utter rubbish.
I use a bosh leccy and I've never cut through the cable, the hedge trimmer on the other hand...

I bet you couldn't work out why the cutters weren't working any more either could you? Even checking to make sure they were plugged in properly.

The big blue spark alerted me to the fact that something was amiss. On both occasions.
once is worrying... twice is pushing your luck... there are these things called petrol hedge cutter you know... they don't suffer from this problem and assuming you are not mad enough to consider filling them up whilst having a naked flame around, they are considered to be safer by some... could you be one of these people now? ;)

down here in Cornwall i reckon to be cutting pretty much all year round depending on how cold it gets . winter just means the cuts a longer between each one .

My lawns are just getting started! It's Spring over here.
I got an electric mower about 3 years ago, and it still works really well. When I have a lot of mowing to do, I need to recharge the mower's battery about 1/2 way through the mowing, but that's no big inconvenience.

Before breakfast Friday I noticed the grass was unusually dry.
That became my morning exercise. a 5 to 10 minute sprint round a large but rectangular lawn. That was the manual cylindrical mower.

I have an electric but I do prefer the exercise of a push mower. Quick, easy, healthy, plus no cable worries.
