Ok folks, i'll see you in the morning. I'm a super skint student at the moment so the much cheaper train ticket on sunday morning plus the extra time for a longer ride has been the deciders! I haven't been on the bike once since early november (four months!!!), so expect a much slower calum on those hills!! Also Colin, all the shops are shut now so I will not have that tube for you, or myself... If I puncture tomorrow, it'll be a repair job!!
Well, being skint could be a reason not to buy tubes, but not unavailability of shops since Blazing Saddles opens in Hebden Bridge at the time we are setting off so we could always call in there on our way out!

You'll still be quicker than me even after a 4 month layoff!

Also, I might opt out of the full 50 miles if i'm knackered and take the shortcut!! :hello:
I wouldn't be surprised if I have to join you!

Do 20 laps round the steep-sided dip on the B5186 between Wilmslow and Styal - that'll test his legs! (I always used to struggle a bit on that stretch of road towards the end of the Manchester 100.)

You can do a 3.25 mile loop with about 190 ft of climbing per lap. 20 laps = 65 miles, with 3,800 ft of climbing!

Turns out I'm not needed for child minding tomorrow so I'll be coming out with you all. I'll be riding up from Rochdale so may not make the start on time; feel free to set off without me. I've got the route in the GPS so will catch you up if need be.

Not so long ago I rode to Whaley Bridge and was looking for where Denis Thorpe took his famous picture of the town in the snow and then realised he took it in Hebden Bridge :-(

Excellent!

That's it - rub it in - yes, I'm slow enough to be an easy catch! ;)

We'll probably see you somewhere between the car park and the top of Cock Hill then!

If Calum wants to nip round to Blazing Saddles, we'll leave someone behind in the car park in case you arrive while we are at the shop.

I'll be coming the easy way, given I'm riding to the start and home again; I've been getting out and doing turbo regularly but haven't built up to anything like your current mileage! That's my house, Kingsway, A58 to Littleborough, then via Todmorden in the valley to Hebden. Not sure what time I'll be setting off though, probably late!

I can't even afford the 4 quid for a tube, seriously, it's that bad at the moment! I've got just enough cash for the train and the cafe and enough not to starve on monday and tuesday until daddy's money comes in on wednesday.

God, I can't wait to finish uni and get a decent job with prospects! Oh hang on, it's 2011...

I feel your pain - I'll have a quick poke about and see if I can find another spare spare tube for you! I want to keep 2 for myself, but it's quite possible that I've got one or two lying about somewhere in one of my boxes of bits. If I haven't got a new one, I've probably got one I could pre-patch for you. (It's always nice to carry a spare to minimise down time on rides.)

Thinking about it, I need to take some cash out in the morning or I won't be able to buy owt at the cafe!

Well, I survived the party managed to pace myself

Unlike the mil who managed to go through a full bottle of bailey's

See you all in the morning
Well done! I've already used up this week's beer ration so I'm on OJ tonight and tomorrow.

Just to remind you - we are meeting at the Market Place car park at about 09:45, aiming to leave about 10:00.

Calum - I found an old tube with a snakebite puncture. I've stuck a patch on it and will bring it for you as a spare if the patch holds. (I'll test it in the morning.)
