I'm in Tarragona, Spain and a Google search brings nothing much up for suggested MTB hire and trail routes. Free day tomorrow, anyone help out with suggested hire centres/trails I can get in touch with in the morning. I have a car so can drive to any suitable places

Not very MTB but there are two vias Verdes listed for Tarragona on http://www.viasverdes.com/en/itineraries/principal.asp and the leaflets may show bike hirers.

After 21 years as a mountain biker and 6 years on the road I would disagree with that. An hour on the road is worth three messing around in the mud.

Definitely road CAN be harder if you want. A long day on a mountain bike is all-over tiring though.
