I dropped my upright off at Mitchells cycles in Swindon this morning, the BB was making some unpleasant noises. They were pretty busy and said they'd take a look and hope to have it sorted by friday. Just had a call, all sorted and ready to go, and much less than the quoted price! Excellent stuff!:becool:

Cool! Still doesn't make up for Melinda Messenger though (though i'll forgive you Mark Lamarr... he plays good music... and perhaps Melinda has a couple of good points too... her charity work and effervescent personality. :becool:

Sounds like Mitchells is a good LBS, my rear bike wheel is currently at the Swindon Cycle Superstore as I somehow managed to break my rear axle. Never used them before for repairs so do not really know what they are like, should find out tomorrow when I get it back.

try fixing the bike yourself - you'll save £££s and won't have the hassle of dropping it off, collecting it and the huge bills that are becoming ever more common.

A bicycle is a very simple machine that requires just a few specialist tools for most repairs.

Is Express Cycles on Manchester Road still there? Not that I'm recommending them, just curious - last went there in '88

I would do it myself but I cannot be sure I would have enough time to work on it, until the weekend, also assuming there was no other damage. With the weather being so nice I want to miss as few days as possible.
I have no problem fixing my car and, when I had a motorcycle, my motorcycle, I have worked on my bicycle before just not this time.

I think Express Cycles it is still there.

I normally do fix (and build) my own bikes, but I tend to spend a lot of time taking things apart and at the end of the process still have no idea what was wrong! Today was more a case of convenience over anything else.

As for Express Cycles, I don't think they're around anymore.

I found an article from January 2004 stating he was giving up, explains why I do not remember seeing it even though I ride down Manchester Rd. quite often.

Express Cycles closed some time ago, but there is a smaller cycle shop nearby which has opened since.

BTW, if Melinda Messenger and Mike Lamarr are not to your taste, how about Billie Piper or Diana Dors?

I used to drink in a pub frequented by some of Billie Pipers ex-school mates, they said she was a complete bitch before she was famous and only got worse.
