Happy New Year.

No it's not a trick question, the power consumption varies a fair bit between models/sizes and manufacturers.

The Panasonic G10s are very good. If you're wanting 37" or 42" you'll be getting an energy envelope of around 120-200W depending on what you get. There are a few flat screen sets that are outside this range.

Cheers marin. i'd forgotton your knowledge base was also considerable on the techy stuff.

We have a toshiba 26" at the mo.

I thought I would post an update - eventually decided on a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV, which arrived today. Very impressed with it and very easy to set up.

And the company I ordered it from were 'spot on'. Ordered on 29th December, e-mail that it had been sent on 30th, and arrived today! And the delivery company also warrant a mention as they made efforts to deliver rather than find us not at home and bugger off

An all round positive thumbs up! ;):bravo:

I've had a panny viera plasma for just two years now. Cracking telly!

Glad to hear it ;)...just got the 42 inch Viera G15 plasma. Its a beaut.

Innit gutting, its replacing a 36 inch Phillips CRT that cost £1500 10 years ago...whats it worth ?, virtually nothing now. I brought it right on the entry of LCDs but didnt know about the longevity of them.
Just gave it to my sister in law....she's very happy, its still a good TV.

Back to the plasma. 2,000,000:1 aspect ratio  The colours are extraordinary and i havnt even watched anything in HD yet. Just got to connect up the sat dish....its internet ready as well.

A guy at work got the G10 a while ago, he's been very happy with it. He was told the same as i was, the lifespan of plasma has increased a lot. I think they're talking 200,000 hour screen life.
Basically anthying over 40 inch, you need to be thinking plasma, anything under, go LCD.

Mr Plax has just bought a 37" Panasonic viera it's well ace. He was conflicted about getting a 40" but glad he didn't when we got it home. I think a 40" in his living room would have been a bit on the big side. They never look that big in the shops!

I personally have the Aldi Tevion 32" TV and have been very pleased with it.

I noticed there wasn't much difference in price between the 37" and 40" TVs, indeed a few 40" TVs were cheaper than a 37"!
