I am starting to get tired of people on here being obnoxious and insulting towards me. I come on here to have a friendly chat about things which I and other people have an interest in. I do not intend to be having disputes with people critisizing my cycling style and how I have acted in situations.

I encourage polite critisizm and feedback from incidents as I often take these pointers on board as I want to improve my riding style, but there is a difference between feedback and rudeness. It is ruining my thoughts of CycleChat and ruining other peoples threads.

When I first came across this website, I was intrigued and took great delight in reading and commenting on other peoples posts. I learnt new things and skills which have helped me overcome problems which I have encountered. But when I started posting videos and asking for people views on the situation, I was bombarded with quiries and insults regards 'what I did wrong' and that 'I caused a problem'. I dont mind people pointing out my errors, but it gets obnoxious when people say that 'I keep causing problems' and 'I am confrontational'.

I would like to enjoy thiis site for what it is mean for 'CycleChat' or chatting about topics relating to cycling. I dont want to come on here and feel as if I am being bullied by people who dont know me or who I am and are just making presumptions based on what I say or do. It is starting to get old.

I'm sorry to hear you feel bullied. I made negative comments on your previous thread because I felt you'd read the situation wrongly. But I've no interest in being part of a mob, so I'll refrain from commenting on your entries in future.

Keep on riding.

Try not to let it bother you Matthew, some people like to criticise for the sake of it or just think they know more than anybody else. I've had responses from people who just need to argue for the sake of it. May be they just want something to say.

Anyone taking the trouble to put their videos up should be given a bit more respect. There are also ways of offering constructive criticism, if they haven't got those skills then its their hard luck.

Best thing is to ignore them and enjoy the rest of the posts.

I think it's the first of your threads I've commented on, and the tone seemed fairly light-hearted.

However after a later point I think this is fair criticism, we've all kissed tarmac and these should help you:

1. You cannot see the lights that the oncoming driver can see.
2. Sequences are subject to change.

A camera does not make you safer, in fact it seems to be that you're using it as some kind of false risk homeostasis. See the bolded text, it may as well say that it doesn't matter if you get hit if you have a camera.

I suggest for you it would be safer to not have the camera and treat cars with respect.

And for this I've learned the hard way, I recently looked over my shoulder on a piece of road I've cycled down countless times to check if it was safe to move across a lane to turn right; I popped my front wheel in to a sunken drain cover which resulted in a quick trip over the handlebars:.

You also might want to pay less attention to rubbernecking and more on the road you're cycling down.

I would maybe sit and think about what you post before you post it, you have since noticed the video maybe did need to be posted and i would agree, you learn from mistakes and it seems like you do, try not to get too angry about small things that happen on the road

yeah... that's usually what presumptions are based on Matthew, and it's entirely normal. You generally come across as a nice enough chap, but many of your 'incidents' are in my book, virtual none events.and you're certainly not the only one... I see far too many videos from helmet cam cyclists which aren't worth the time or effort. But again that's my opinion.

in light of that, I could sit back and think "why is he even posting this" and type nothing, or sit forward and type "why are you even posting this?" ...after all it is a forum.

There's often been a definite lack of the 'fun and friendly' on this subforum for a long time. People have often said Commuting is the new P&L. I don't see why people should be 'thick skinned' when it would be easier for people to just be polite.

Which is a shame as I find this forum to have some of the best advice and consensus on road use, just it gets mixed in with people being really ****ing horrible and getting away with it.

MacB, well the videos I've seen are on topic for this forum, they're entertaining and people are taking the time and trouble to make them and post them.

So why not
