Running an inefficient ten year old vehicle is vastly less polluting than the energy and resources required to build a new 'clean' vehicle, so you were still an Eco Warrior at heart.

That's true only if you do a very low mileage.

I always thought that to justify buying a diesel, you had to be doing higher than average mileage?

I pay the max tax on my car, it's not very economical but was not bought for that reason. It tows my caravan and can transport our family with ease. However it's not a daily driver. There is nothing else on the road that can really do all that I need , certainly not leccy wise.

It was at a time when diesel cars cost quite a bit more to buy, however they have become cheaper and for long enough the economy was the selling point on small eco cars and later on even big 2ltr engines could do 50+ mpg . However everyone drives one and they are not as clean as first thought ! VW etc

Volvo XC90 T8 Hybrid ? 2400Kg towing and mahoosive. however i cant justify one as its a massive road congester even if I was leaving it outside house for weeks at a time. ( as i do with currrnt dirty V70 2.0 diesel

I get that, but I still pay a premium or I did pay a premium to get the diesel engine. My car is just over a year old, has the price of a diesel slumped that much in that time?
