XmisterIS

Purveyor of fine nonsense
Having gone through 384 options like, "If you are calling about <whatever>, press 1", I am now sitting in a telephone queue waiting to talk to an "agent", who apparently knows I am waiting and who values my call today (presumably because he/she either loves me or is being insufferably patronising) and be with me as soon as possible.

So it begs the question, why don't they use callback?! I pay for callback if I request it though BT by pressing "5", so why don't they just say something like, "We're really busy, if you'd like a callback which will appear on your telephone bill and will be charged at your standard rate, please press the hash key and we'll call you in the next 20 minutes".

That way I don't have to sit in a sodding queue for 20 minutes - and if my mind has wondered off onto other things when my callback comes, then tough luck for little ol' me!

It seems so convenient - the only reason I can think of for companies not doing this is that they make more money out of me by making me wait in a damn queue than they would if they used callback.
