Lights for a quid

In my local Poundland they've got LED bike lights for, well you know....

They seem bright enough with lots of different flashy type modes if you like that sort of thing.

So I bought 2 to try em.

Let you know how they perform

If they're the same as the ones I got the other week then the lights are fairly bright and battery life seems ok, but the mounting bracket is fragile (although a couple of cable ties soon sorted that!)

I've had these and they are OK. The brackets tend to be the weakest point, and at the price you don't get too upset when you forget to take them off at the shops and some shitbag nicks them. Yes, it happened again last week. Bastards. I'd like to nail them to a table. Then I'd get REALLY nasty.

I usually find with pound shop lights that the batteries come lose after the slightest bump or jerk.

I've found this with the really cheap lights too.
A small blob of blu-tac squicshed down between the batteries sorts it out easily.

I wouldnt rely on a poundland light as my only back light but happily use them for additional ones on the back of the panniers etc.Seem to be as bright as any other similar lights.

Found similar ones on ebay for 99p all in. Perfectly fine cheap lighting. I use one on a pattern and one steady

They are better than nothing, but remember you only get what you pay for...

A quick update on my poundland bargains.... On friday (in heavy rain) the light turned itself on (fast flashing mode) and I've just got the bike out of the shed and its still flashing! Best of all I only used some kodak batteries (6 for £1), so battery life seems better than I thought!

I'm fairly sure this light is dead now, but I think I'll pop in to poundland and pick up another, ideal as a reserve...

Stick it on a radiator to dry out. TBH I'd buy something better, and use them as a backup.

I am keen to hear of decent prices to be had for adequate kit. Seems to me recently that prices have gone through the roof. I wanted some rechargeable triple A batteries for cycle lights today and as a keen photographer was gob smacked to see they were now 100% more expensive than they were early summer in Tesco £14 for 4. ouch. Someone is taking the proverbial. And yes I have one of those £1.50 Saik lights as well..........

Rechargeable batteries are cheaper from online places like 7dayshop. I'm running my lights and gps on their own brand rechargables at the moment and they seem to work perfectly well.
