I'm a keen reader of threads about poor driving - even at my advanced years I've learned things about safe cycling from these pages. Unlike many others, I am (relatively) unfazed by close passes.
However, there's one thing that really frightens me and I see a lot of it. I've nver seen it mentioned here, so maybe my dozens of 'almosts' are a statistical freak. The situation of which I speak is this:
Cars leaving a line of parked vehicles, having been parked facing the oncoming traffic. This puts the driver next to the kerb, so the final swing & lunge into a line of cars is often done by guesswork and a finger in the wind.
Parking against the direction of traffic in daylight is not against the law, but most of the potentially coronary-inducing moments I've had in the past twenty or more years have been because of cars pulling out while parked facing the oncoming traffic.
Even though I'm always on the look-out for it, I still have my magic moments of terror.
Am I alone in feeling that this is a bit of a problemette?
Does anyone else have particular bugbears that freak them out and seem to leave other road users unmoved?
