...To all of those who think living with somebody stops you doing the things you want or like to do, all I can say is you are so wrong.

I agree.
My husband and I share a hobby (photography) and we also have our separate hobbies too.
I have my children and now grandchildren, and I keep myself busy, doing what I can, when I can, within my limits.
I have medical conditions which make my life extremely uncomfortable some days, but I do love my life!

What are the people who are unhappy about living alone doing to change the situation.

Just asking....
Making thousands of posts a year on CycleChat ...?

PS In case that comment was misunderstood ... I am not using CC as some sort of dating agency, but it is a big part of my social life. Apart from the merry banter on here, I do actually meet CycleChatters in real life for rides, walks, chats, coffee and cake!

In theory, it would be nice to share my life with someone else, but sharing ill health, ill wealth, and depression is never really going to work very well so it will have to wait, probably until I am too old to care any more, or have already succumbed to my illness or the side-effects of the medication!

I love living alone, I do what I want when I want, eat what I want when I want, watch what I want when I want & sleep when I want.

I do all those things and don't live alone! Think I have a nice balance, other half works in Europe so can be away for weeks at a time.
I have never lived alone, and I shudder to think what would happen if I had to. I can't cook, have never done any washing, ironing or housework - I have never even bought an item of clothing in my entire life - what a weird little world I live in.
I can't think why anyone would want to be so dependant on others?

I've lived alone for 11 years now and although it does have its downsides (always my turn to make tea, wash-up, dust and hoover), I can't see myself sharing my home again. Yes one gets lonesome from time to time, but that's what friends and family are for.
Its embarrassing that I am. Its more the way things have turned out rather than choice - used to work 16 hours a day (often 7 days a week) couldn't have done that without the worlds most perfect woman -- now that i am sort of retired I would like to learn to cook and stuff, but I get ordered out of the kitchen if I try and interfere. As for buying clothes, I guess it's not difficult, it just doesn't interest me in the slightest, and neither do clean or ironed clothes.
Sounds like the world's dumbest woman to me. I couldn't have any respect for someone who did absolutely everything for me, it's kinda pathetic.

Don't hold back eh

I like my own space and time but don't like being alone. I used to go touring on my own but always stayed in hostels because I like meeting people, in fact that's kind of the point of touring alone.

We're all different and should respect that. Although some of you clearly have issues, not me though

I suppose everybody fits into the category of ''sociable loner'' somewhere along the line, but it does seem to be a very apt description for many cyclists.
